Brief description
The training course includes 5 days of 5 hours of instruction each, aimed at equipping teachers with tools, strategies, and skills to enhance classroom engagement through audiovisual techniques and media. Communication is fundamental for good teaching, and to captivate students’ attention—especially today—it’s crucial to employ powerful tools. The course will cover psychological techniques like social contracts and drama skills, the use of mobile phones, apps similar to Kahoot, Trello, and Canva, as well as the creation of short explanatory videos. Additionally, an overview to AI and its use to contribute to teaching will be done.

Day 1 – Introduction to Audiovisual Media, Mobile Phones, and Attention-Capturing Strategies
Welcome and Course Objectives

- Initial assessment of knowledge about audiovisual media and mobile phone use in the classroom
- Activity: Group discussion on perceptions of mobile phones as educational tools and expectations for the course

- Strategies to capture students’ attention using audiovisual media.
- Activity: Case study analysis of successful integration of audiovisuals and mobiles in teaching
Day 2 – Producing Audiovisual Content Using Mobile Phones to Motivate and Engage
Creating Engaging Presentations with Mobile Phones:
- Principles of visual and dynamic design for presentations using mobile apps.
- Practical Activity: Create an interactive presentation using Canva or Google Slides on mobile, focusing on capturing attention
Recording Educational Videos with Mobiles to Engage Students:
- Techniques for recording videos that keep students engaged, such as rhetorical questions, practical examples, and participatory dynamics
- Practical Activity: Record an educational video using techniques to engage students actively
Editing Educational Videos on Mobile Devices with Interactive Elements:
- Editing videos to include interactive elements (e.g., embedded questions, calls to action)
- Practical Activity: Edit the recorded video, adding elements that promote interaction and critical thinking
Publishing and Sharing Interactive Content:
- Strategies for sharing videos that encourage participation, using platforms with comment and discussion features
- Homework: Upload and share the edited video on an educational platform, creating a follow-up activity to motivate participation
Day 3 – Types of Audiovisual Media and Mobile Applications in the Classroom
Introduction to different types of audiovisual media accessible via mobile devices
- Review of educational apps that can capture students’ attention
- Practical Activity: Using tools like Google Classroom, Kahoot!, or Nearpod to create interactive activities
Planning Dynamic Lessons with Audiovisuals and Mobiles:
- Designing lessons that keep students engaged through interactive content
- Homework: Design a short interactive lesson incorporating audiovisuals and mobiles to be presented the next day
Day 4 – Practical Application and Attention-Capturing Techniques in the Classroom with Mobiles
Integration of Mobiles, Audiovisuals, and Participation Techniques in Various Subjects:
- Examples of combining mobiles, audiovisuals, and attention-capturing techniques across different subjects
- Activity: Brainstorming specific projects for each subject, focusing on capturing attention and motivating students
Development of Audiovisual Projects Using Mobiles:
- Planning and developing an audiovisual project using attention-capturing techniques, with mobiles as the main tool
- Practical Activity: Start developing a personalized project that includes strategies to maintain student interest

José Antonio Moreno MartÃnez (aka Clochu) is a former psychologist, TV and movie producer and member of the Drama/Film School Cinehaus Sevilla. He has been teaching languages for years and now he is teaching drama training. In addition, he has experience in events organization and in treatment of people with disabilities. He loves meeting new people and speaking in other languages.
